DESCRIPTION

Despite meticulous planning during the script writing stage, story problems arise in every film’s first assembly. A director looks to their editor as a partner in solving these problems. Through this process directors learn to trust their editor, and thus the editor’s influence over the project grows. In fact, the film editor spends more time with the director shaping the story than any other person involved in the final picture.

In this webinar you’ll learn how to keep the collaborative partnership between the director and editor smooth and cooperative. In addition, you’ll learn ways to diagnose and solve those story problems along with building an approach to dissecting a story, while maintaining a relaxing, cooperative environment.

Remember that a solid partnership between the director and editor will often last for years.

PREREQUISITE

No specific NLE (e.g. Avid, FCP, Premiere Pro) knowledge is required. A solid understanding of the rough cut phase of editing is helpful but not necessary.

PRESENTER

Misha Tenenbaum is a film and television editor, a certified Advanced Final Cut Pro Instructor, and an Avid Certified User (ACU). His editing includes "Immigration Tango", winner of Best Picture at the Boston International Film Festival, and the popular Speed Channel TV show, "Super Cars Exposed". In addition to editing, Misha shares that knowledge at the Los Angeles FCP User Group as a 'guru' answering audience questions. Misha also presented Avid Media Composer 5 with Avid Technologies at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) in Las Vegas.

HOW IT WORKS

• On the day and time of the Webinar, click on the URL in the confirmation email.
• Remember to log in 20 minutes before the webinar to watch "The Twenties", a 20 minute "slide show" before the webinar.
• The presentation will appear in your browser. If this is the first time you've taken a Webinar from us, you will have to approve the installation of the GotoMeeting.com plug-in. You must have Java enabled for this plug-in to work.
• You'll be able to call into a phone # (which you will get in the confirmation email) or can also use your computer audio to listen in.
• You'll be able to ask text questions through an easy to use interface. Your microphone is not enabled during the presentation.
