DESCRIPTION

Setting the mood of your edit doesn't always come from a cut or dissolve. In many cases it's the look of your footage that conveys a specific feeling to your audience.

In this webinar we'll walk you through some simple (and some more complex) color grading techniques inside Final Cut Pro X. Using the built in effects along with some great plug-ins from FxFactory, we'll take ordinary footage, grade it and give it unique looks to wow your next client.

• Working with the color board inside FCP X.
• Setting the right mood with Yanobox Moods.
• Working with levels and curves using Nattress Levels and Curves.
• Using a 3rd party color corrector with Phyx Color.
• Hidden color correction and grading effects inside FxFactory.

PREREQUISITE

Attendees should be familiar with any NLE and/or compositing program.

PRESENTER

Kevin McAuliffe is currently a Senior Editor in MIJO working in HD postproduction in Toronto, Canada. He has been in the television industry for over 13 years, and cuts on the latest versions of Avid Media Composer and Apple's Final Cut Pro. He also spends a chunk of his days in Adobe's After Effects, which he has been using since version 3.5. Kevin's high definition onlining credit list includes concerts for Coldplay, Sarah McLachlan, Barenaked Ladies, Snow Patrol, Sum41, Paul Anka, Il Divo and Pussycat Dolls, to name a few. Kevin is an instructor of Advanced Final Cut Studio at the Toronto Film College and has worked for Discovery Channel Canada and HGTV Canada as both an offline and online editor.

HOW IT WORKS

1. LIVE WEBINARS

• Remember to log in 20 minutes before the webinar to watch "The Twenties", a 20 minute "slide show" before the webinar.
• The presentation will appear in your browser. If this is the first time you've taken a Webinar from us, you will have to approve the installation of the GotoMeeting.com plug-in. You must have Java enabled for this plug-in to work.
• You'll be able to call into a phone # (which you will get in the confirmation email) or can also use your computer audio to listen in.
• You'll be able to ask text questions through an easy to use interface. Your microphone is not enabled during the presentation.


2. ON DEMAND WEBINARS
• Purchase the on-demand version (in the "Purchase Options" section)
• You will receive confirmation of your payment.
• You will receive an email with a link to download your on-demand version of the webinar

EQUIPMENT NEEDED

• Any Windows (XP, Vista, 7) or Mac (OS X) computer.
• Computer speakers (if you are not calling in).
• Any screen resolution should work, however, the higher the resolution, the better it will look.
• Any latest version of Safari, Internet Explorer or Firefox.
• Java needs to be enabled.


2. ON DEMAND WEBINARS
• Any Windows (XP, Vista, 7) or Mac (OS X) computer.
• Computer speakers.
• Any screen resolution should work, however, the higher the resolution, the better it will look.
• A media player that can play .m4v and .m4a files (iTunes, Windows Media, etc.)
• Acrobat reader for some of the PDF files.
• Depending on the webinar, you will need a host application to open up the bonus features (such as project files, etc.)
